Oh, yeah -- she's a horse lover from way back. At her old Girl Scout camp (the one The No-Campfire Girls is based on) she became an assistant wrangler for their horses.
I've actually only ridden a few times in my life--for me it's a case of I could take it or leave it, although I do like to talk to the horses! But for Emily it's one of those things that makes her truly happy, like writing or chocolate for me.
