I live in the little town of Albion, Indiana, with my wife Emily, a cowardly ball python named Lucius, and our enormous beast of a dog Baeowulf . I have two daughters and twin grandsons, which can only mean I started having kids when I was seven. Honest.
For the last thirty-seven years I've been a member of the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, having joined on my fifth birthday (again -- honest!), and served as safety officer, training officer, public information officer, department photographer, and secretary at various times. Over the years I've also served on the local EMS and hazardous materials units, served two terms as Albion Town Council member, and done public relations writing for the Noble County Relay For Life, among other organizations - so it's fair to say I think public service is important. When asked if I have any free time, I laugh hysterically.
With my wife's help I have ten books published. The most recent two are the romantic comedies Coming Attractions and Radio Red. My first two were also romantic comedies: Storm Chaser and The Notorious Ian Grant, published by Whiskey Creek Press along with my related short story collection, Storm Chaser Shorts.
Between them came two local history books, Smoky Days and Sleepless Nights: A Century or So With the Albion Fire Department and Images of America: Albion and Noble County; The No-Campfire Girls, a humorous young adult adventure; a collection of humor columns, Slightly Off the Mark; and Hoosier Hysterical: How the West Became the Midwest Without Moving At All, a humor book about Indiana history and trivia. My humor column appeared in three weekly newspapers for over two decades before moving to the monthly Kendallville Mall.
