125th fire Anniversary, and first Look At My New Book Cover

               You only turn 125 once, so the Albion Fire Department is throwing a party to celebrate its quasquicentennial. (It’s a real word!)

            Although the actual anniversary of the AFD’s founding is May 3^rd, 1888, AFD volunteers picked the best date possible for the whole community to join in, and will be having the celebration on July 20^th, 2013, starting at noon. A dedication ceremony will be at the Central Noble Auditorium from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., but before and after there will be food, events, demonstrations, and activities for children.

            Plans are for Albion’s antique apparatus to be on hand, including a 1929 fire engine, and a fire hose cart that dates back to around 1900. Along with that will be a fire truck cruise-in, with apparatus from all area departments invited and on display for the public.

Also, author/firefighter Mark R. Hunter will be on hand to introduce and sign copies of his new book detailing the AFD’s history: Smoky Days and Sleepless Nights: A Century or So With the Albion Fire Department.
