My working
title for the Girl Scout story will be “No
Campfire, Girls”, which is certainly better than the “Burning Brownies” that someone suggested!
Meanwhile,
the working title of my “space opera” novella, which is flirting with becoming
a novel, is: “Beowulf: In Harm’s Way”.
Or possibly “The Beowulf: In Harm’s Way”, since that’s the name of a ship.
Either works.
ReplyDeleteOh, good -- that must be why they call them working titles! :-)
DeleteI don't know... somehow I could see Burning Brownies.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually worry about sending the wrong message, but in this case ...
DeleteI love naming ships after mythical characters, you could have the 'Hero Division' fleet - the Arthur, Gilgamesh, Achilles etc. Space opera is hard to write though, so good luck.

True, that. I don't know if it will quality as true space opera when I'm done, though -- mostly it's a working term as much as a working title. Although it does take place on a warship during a war, it's the smallest class of spaceship in the fleet, and assigned to an area far away from combat -- or so HQ thinks.
